Fulshear Fifteen Minute City

The City of Fulshear, quickly becoming a suburb of Houston is facing unprecedented growth. In an effort to define the cultural center of the old downtown one developer is proposing a new walkable development that connects to the “old town”. The fifteen minute city concept is exemplified in the master plan, where phased parking garages wrapped with multifamily units are place near vehicular entrances. Once parked, users will walk to neighborhood restaurants, retail shops or the hotel/convention center. The focus of the development is the renovated existing lakefront and several urban-scaled canals ala Amsterdam. The 15-year master plan is divided into seven phases including Market Court, Entertainment, Waterfront, Fountain Plaza and Medical Districts. The plan includes a convention center/hotel complex, nightclubs, restaurants, multifamily, office and a European styled Market Hall.
