The city of Chandigarh in India has a long tradition of mid 20th Century modern architecture. The Indian government envisioned this city as a symbol of a new, progressive India. The construction of Chandigarh started in the early 1950s, and it was like assembling a giant puzzle with each piece meticulously designed to fit perfectly. The planning and design was mostly directed by world renown architect Le Corbusier. In this context, the Marble Arch residences seeks to reflect that tradition with the use of curved concrete planes and flying canopies, bold colors and highly functional planning.
