The design integrates facilities and parking into a cohesive, puzzle-like structure. Situated on Red River Street near the University of Texas campus and the Texas Capitol, the building's massing is influenced by its proximity to the Capitol, resulting in a podium that houses the pool deck, fitness center, and recreational spaces. Due to the steep terrain of the site, the entry for the Holiday Inn Express is two stories higher than the entry for the Indigo.
