The University of Texas Board of Regents wanted to expand the UTSA campus with several new student facilities. This fitness and wellness building had to reflect the modern buildings on campus but also the Italianate structures in the core of the UT main campus in Austin. The design stretches the program into two structures connected over the main “paseo” promenade through the campus. It contains several basketball/volleyball courts, squash courts, intramural sports offices and a wellness clinic.
