UT Rio Grande Valley BSL-3 Lab/

UTHSCSA | Edinburg*

Edinburg, Texas

The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio desired to reach into the Rio Grande Valley and create a health system for training doctors. A key issue in the 5 million person area is transmitted diseases like AIDs, tuberculosis, polio and sexually-oriented diseases. Though numerous facilities were envisioned, a high level laboratory building was required early in the program. This facility, on the UT Edinburg campus was designed to meet those needs with faculty offices, laboratories, treatment rooms, and a full BSL-3 level lab.

*The project was designed by Warren Johnson while Vice President/Senior Designer at HOK Houston.
