Texas Tech College of Education*

Lubbock, Texas

The Texas Tech Board of Regents wanted a replacement facility for the existing English/Philosophy and new Education College buildings on campus. The planning of the structures must conform to the existing layout of the campus and enhance those spaces created between buildings. The Board charged that this plan and the ensuing design should seek to bring back the spirit of the original 12 buildings on campus as designed and planned by William Ward Watkins, in the Plateresque Renaissance style. The Education building is a reflection of the quad-sharing English/Philosophy building. The facility contains classrooms, a conference facility and faculty offices.

*The project was designed by Warren Johnson while Vice President at HOK Houston.
